There is a calibration date displayed on the hand unit screen. How do I update it?
This calibration date refers to factory calibrations where the internal parameters are updated to make the CS3 measurements the most accurate they can be. The date can only be updated by Safearth when the unit is re-calibrated.
If you want to carry out routine "calibration checks" on the CS3, that's great, and we can assist with a procedure to do this, but it won't change and internal parameters, nor the date displayed by the meter. We recommend you use an additional sticker on the outside of the meter to indicate the date of the most recent calibration check.
How often should I calibrate it?
The CS3 has been designed with high precision components, which means that it should continue to measure within its specified accuracy for well over two years without any re-calibration.
We recommend that the CS3 be returned to Safearth for a service and re-calibration every two years. We typically call this a "Calibration", or more accurately "Re-Calibration", which involves updating the internal parameters within the unit to make the CS3 measurements the most accurate they can be. During this service, we would also recommend replacing internal batteries and updating firmware if appropriate.
We also recommend that unit be thoroughly checked each year for cleanliness, damage, correct operation and an appropriate level of accuracy. We refer to this annual check as a "Calibration Check" or "Verification Check", which includes measurements against precision resistors in a laboratory to ensure the measurements are within the specified level of accuracy. This annual check could be carried out by your business, if you have the necessary equipment (we can provide you with a procedure), or by Safearth.
How do I arrange for a service or calibration?
Send an email to support@safearth.com or call you local Safearth contact. We will provide you with a quotation and instructions on how to return the unit to us.
Please do not send your instruments to us without contacting us first.
